Adult learning - Council conclusions
The Council adopted the following conclusions:
Modern Languages Education of Roma Children
I intend to cast light upon the significance of the
problems of Roma children and the social and pedagogical reasons responsible
for their failure in the Hungarian education system.
The European Language Label
The European Label is awarded to local, regional, or national projects
that have found creative ways to improve the quality of language teaching,
motivate students, make the best of available resources to diversify the
language offer, etc.
New thematic research Network for the Adult Educator
The general scope of the new network for the adult educator and trainer
(ESREA- Re. N. Ad. E. T) in this respect is to provide an ongoing forum for
adult educators and trainers from a range of disciplines and
professional settings, whether formal or non-formal (such as further
education, VET and NVAL settings, counselling & guidance
authorities , higher education and other academic settings, learning
organisatio ns and working environments), to contemplate, discuss,
reflect and debate the issues in relation to their education and
training, their professional development, their roles and effective
practices, the modes of their recruitment, their employment situation
and their working conditions.
The European Commission rewards Västra Nylands folkhögskola for its active international cooperation
With the aim of promoting quality in mobility and international cooperation in adult education, The European Commission has selected from around 200 educational projects funded over the past years 10 mobility projects which stand out for their quality.
Easy: Youths put the life story of seniors on the stage
"Going with my parents to the Hoge Veluwe. Abysmally, always to the Hoge Veluwe. So snug and cosy at the campsite. Not before the war of course, but it was possible afterwards. One thing I already knew back then: I´d never go on holiday to the Hoge Veluwe with my own children."

International Adult Learners Week in Europe
The aim of IntALWinE (2003-2005) has been to draw on and build up the strategic potential of learning festivals, with a view to developing a more consolidated European framework of cooperation. The cooperation was meant to lend support to national learning festivals.
Self-empowerment for asylum seekers
As an adult learner, the asylum seeker needs training to support his or her life management skills. Finnish adult educators therefore face the challenge of learning new teaching methods and practices.
2009 European Year of Creativity and Innovation
Europe needs to boost its capacity for creativity
and innovation for both social and economic reasons. That is why the Commission
has today adopted a proposal to declare 2009 the European Year of Creativity and
Innovation. The decision will be taken later this year by the Council and the
European Parliament.

NILE partnership meeting
From 22nd to 24th of May the 25 partners of the European Network on Intercultural Learning in Adult Education (NILE) met for an intensive 2 day transnational meeting in Spain in the office of the Spanish Federation of Folk High Schools (FEUP) in the centre of the city.
