EUSARF 2014 ”Making a difference”

SFI – The Danish National Centre for Social Research is organising the 13th conference for European Scientific Association on Residential & Family Care for Children and Adolescents (EUSARF) 2014.

The overall theme of this year’s conference is “Making a difference”, to encourage participants to discuss how we can transform positive experiences and outcomes into best practice that makes a difference in the lives of vulnerable children and their families. The conference addresses both researchers, practitioners, and others interested in the latest developments and findings in the field of child and family care.

Conference Themes

The conference will be organised according to different themes, all making a difference for vulnerable children and adolescents. The invited keynote speakers are:

  • Richard Barth: Effects of social interventions and the role of common factors
  • Ian Sinclair: Getting better foster care – some evidence from the UK
  • Bo Vinnerljung: Education of children in care
  • Fred Wulczyn: The use of research evidence in child welfare contexts
  • Anne-Dorthe Hestbæk: Child protection in the Nordic welfare states


Abstracts and symposia are invited for oral presentations. Abstracts can now be uploaded. Instructions and guidelines can be found in detail at www.eusarf2014.org. A special part of this year’s conference is a Scandinavian track, where presentations can be given in Danish, Swedish or Norwegian.

  • Closing Date for Abstract Submission: 15 March
  • Abstract Status Notification to Authors: 1 May
  • Closing Date for Early Bird Author Registration: 31 May
  • Closing Date for Registration: 15 August
