EAEA has advocated strongly against the inclusion of adult education in the treaty Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) between the European Union and the USA together with other representatives of civil society and trade union, like The European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning (EUCIS-LLL) and European Trade Union Committee for Education (ETUCE).

EAEA and EUCIS-LLL have initiated an Interest Group on Lifelong Learning together with six Members of the European Parliament. Hosted by MEP Sirpa Pietikäinen (Finland, EPP), the group brings together civil society representatives and MEPs to discuss various key issues connected to lifelong learning. The first meeting took place in Brussels on 16th of April 2015.

The registration for EAEA's General Assembly and Annual Conference "Health and Health Literacy in Adult Education in Europe" is now open. The events take place in Porto, Portugal between 22 and 23 June 2015.

Due to the fact that EAEA has been contacted by a number of national, regional and local initiatives that would not be eligible, we have decided to give them a chance to contend the Award in order to find really excellent and innovative projects. We are now looking for projects that have either a transnational element or a strong national or local partnership with a diverse range of stakeholders.

The EAEA Grundtvig Award for Adult Learning highlights project results that produce new ideas, new partnerships, new methodologies and a new understanding how we can work in adult learning. In parallel, EAEA launches an additional award in the framework of the Adult Education Made Accessible (AEMA) project: the Accessibility Award.

EAEA has sent a letter to Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmström to express its concerns about the inclusion of "private" adult learning and "other education services" as a subject for TTIP negotiations along with other public services.

EAEA is deeply concerned by the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations and its possible consequences. EAEA wants to firmly underline that (adult) education is a public good and asks the European Commission and the Member States to exclude (adult) education from the negotiations.
