At its Annual General Meeting, National Institute on Adult Continuing Education (NIACE) members voted to accept changes that will pave the way for full merger with the Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion (CESI/Inclusion) and to becoming the Learning and Work Institute from 1 January 2016. NIACE is EAEA's British member organisation and a key player in European adult education field.

The Learning and Work Institute (LWI) will strive for a fair society in which learning and work helps people realise their ambitions and potential throughout life. It will do this by researching what works, influencing policy and implementing new ways to improve people’s experiences of learning and employment.

"Merging with CESI/Inclusion brings a range of expertise and experience in the learning and development needed to support people to gain work and progress in their careers. The merger will enhance our ability to support more inclusive local communities and labour markets," said NIACE CEO David Hughes.

"The work we do makes an impact and what we stand for counts. It demonstrates that lifelong learning matters and that we can and do make a real difference. We remain focused on empowering people to realise their ambitions and potential at any age, in any setting, throughout life," he concluded.
