HEFILL project promotes healthy aging

EAEA GRUNDTVIG AWARD 2015. Healthy and Fit in Later Life (HEFILL) 2010–2012 was an endeavour to study offers for older people in the field of sports and movement, make proposals how to increase the level of physical activity among sedentary older people and to enhance the quality of later life.

The article series spreads good practices by introducing the nominees of the EAEA Grundtvig Award 2015.

The project, competing in the European category of the EAEA Grundtvig Award 2015, connected four European countries: Italy, Lithuania, Germany, and Austria. It allowed the partner organisations to exchange experiences and good practice.

Deepening the expertise through mobilities

An essential part of the HEFILL was the mobility of qualified trainers and adult learners from the partner institutions. The trainers attended workshops in each partner country to study the local solution for issues connected with exercises for older person. Through these workshops, HEFILL trainers were able to gain in-depth knowledge on practices of promoting physical activity among older adults.

With this knowledge it is possible for the trainers to intensify their work in the field of healthy aging, which is an issue of great concern in the ageing Europe.
