The Agency for Adult and Further Education (Agentur für Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung) is an organisationally autonomous institution established on the basis of the Lower Saxon Adult Education Act (Niedersächsisches Erwachsenenbildungsgesetz). It is provided for by the Lower Saxon League for Liberal Adult Education and operates in a field where politics, public administration, research and practical pedagogical work overlap.
We are obligated to the democratic and humanist values of the Enlightenment and we are guided by an emancipatory understanding of education. It is a significant horizontal goal of our educational work to promote equal opportunities and social inclusion. As a service provider for publicly funded Lower Saxon adult education we promote Lifelong Learning and increase the plurality, performance and visibility of the educational sector.
We fulfil public duties that are assigned to us by the Lower Saxon Ministry of Science and Culture: We account for examination and acknowledgement procedures in Lower Saxon adult and further education. This includes public funding granted by the Federal State of Lower Saxony, acknowledgement of courses for which educational or special leave may be granted and VAT exemption for vocational education measures.
We provide services for and give impetus to the recognised institutions of Lower Saxon adult education in the fields of training, innovation, networking, counselling and public relations: Events, model projects, tools and publications count among the pivotal instruments of our educational work.
