Erasmus success

According to a recent study the EU's Erasmus programme for mobility and cooperation in higher education has been a strong driving force in shaping the landscape of higher education in Europe.

Commission to work towards the European Year of Volunteering 2011

In a recent meeting, 18th February 2009, it was announced that the European Commission, on instruction of President Barroso, has started preparing the European Year of Volunteering 2011.

New web portal for Lifelong Learning and Universities

The EUCEN observatory on Lifelong Learning is developed by the European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN) and supported by the lifelong learning policies unit of the European Commission. It aims at developing Lifelong Learning at European level.

Education unites - Commissioner Figel meets EAEA Executives in Brussels

The EU Commissioner Ján Figel, responsible for Education and Culture, met with EAEA´s newly elected President Ms Sue Waddington, the EAEA Executive Board and Secretary General Ms Gina Ebner as well as EAEA staff representatives in order to discuss the role of EAEA and Adult Education in current and future European policies.

Schools in Europe achieve creativity and innovation through eTwinning online projects

eTwinning is an EU initiative to encourage schools to network with each other over the internet. With around 50,000 registered users across Europe, increasing numbers of teachers in Europe have proven that they are finding new ways to develop and innovate teaching and learning.

More students to benefit from Erasmus Mundus

Erasmus Mundus, the European co-operation and mobility programme which supports academic excellence and the attractiveness of European higher education worldwide and fosters cooperation with third countries, now enters a new phase with a substantially increased budget and a wider scope.

Brussels Debates of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009 (EYCI 2009) take off

Boosting Europe´s knowledge economy was the topic of the first Brussels debate of the European Year of Creativity and Innovation 2009.

The Mediterranean Society of Comparative Education (MESCE) was launched in Catania (Italy) during a conference, "Comparative Education in the Mediterranean," held on 4th-6th March 2004, organised by Giovanni Pampanini.

Stakeholders forum

The European Commission invited European stakeholders in education and training and the social partners to discuss immediate policy priorities and to improve ways of working together in the long term. The exchange is based on the Commission's proposal for a strategic policy framework in education and training, presented last December, but also touches on the ongoing European Year of Creativity and Innovation.

History Education web site relanuched

The Website of EUROCLIO, the European Association of History Educators recently relaunched their website.
