Denmark: Breaking social patterns with non-formal adult education

Motivating early school leavers for learning is one of the main challenges for adult education. A recent study shows that Danish non-formal adult education has created learning environments that is able of breaking social patterns - thanks to special pedagogic approaches.

Youth on the move gets off the ground

Five million young Europeans are looking for a job. Many of them will miss opportunities because they lack the right qualifications or experience. Today, the European Commission launches Youth on the Move, a new flagship initiative aimed at helping these young people to gain the knowledge, skills and experience they need to make their first job a reality. Part of the EU´s new Europe 2020 strategy, Youth on the Move proposes 28 key actions aimed at making education and training more relevant to young people's needs and encouraging more of them to take advantage of EU grants to study or train in another country. This will increase young people's employability and access to the labour market.

Stakeholders' Forum coming up

EUCIS-LLL and the European Youth Forum co-organise the third Stakeholders´ Forum with DG EAC in Brussels on 28-29 October 2010.

Study: learning makes you happy

A European study has compared the learning atmosphere in various countries. The investigation looked att all learning-related activities, including adult education.
The result: the frontrunners were the countries which continually perform well in educational matters: Denmark, Sweden, the Netherlands and Finland.

International Literacy Day 2010

The International Literacy Day 2010 highlights under the theme "The Power of Women´s Literacy" the critical role that literacy plays in empowering women, who make up 64% of the 796 million illiterate adults.
