UNIEDA continues the work of the Italian Federation for Continuing Education (FIPEC) created in 1998 to bring together within one association the ‘Popular´ Universities and other important organisations involved in education and training.

UNIEDA aims to carry out activities and functions which have been supported by FIPEC since its inception, and to work within the lifelong learning milieu. The best experts in the country on this important sector are part of the Union.

UNIEDA President and former FIPEC president Francesco Florenzano, says, "The new name, UNIEDA, was necessary in order to better represent all the associated organisations, both public and private, which operate in the adult education sector in our country. The new logo will also give new impulse to the organisation´s initiatives as well as equal visibility for all the organisations belonging the Union"

In fact, UNIEDA, also includes within it public institutions desiring to contribute to the progress and diffusion of culture and improve the quality of life of all citizens.

UNIEDA is a National Association for Social Promotion (L. 383/2000) enrolled in the National Register.

With its internet site (www.unieda.it) and its magazine "Input" as well, UNIEDA offers a concrete contribution to developing human potential through continuing education.

The first UNIEDA congress will be held at Bolzano 23-26 November 2006.
