"ADD LIFE - ADDing quality to LIFE through inter-generational learning via universities" is a two-year project, funded under Grundtvig 1, the EU programme for adult education. It was launched in October 2006 with the University of Graz, Austria, as contractor and six full partners and seven associate partners.
DILLLMULI - Dissemination of Lifelong Learning Activities in Museums- and Library-Projects
Recent research suggests that cultural institutions such as Libraries, Museums, Cultural centers etc. are considered by adult learners as more accessible and friendly learning environments than traditional educational institutions. Libraries are by far more accessible than all the others.
EUCIS - European Civil Society Platform on Lifelong Learning
One of the main objectives is to enable people to develop and to maintain key competencies throughout life.
Six NGOs (EfVET, EAEA, EVTA, CSR-Europe, Solidar and Euro-WEA) propose to create and maintain a consultation platform open to all interested civil society actors in the field of lifelong learning and the future objectives of education and training systems in Europe. The European Association for Adult Education (EAEA) will be responsible for the co-ordination of the project.
Ellproft - European Lifelong Learning Professional Training
The objective of ELLPROFT is to set up a European Network for the Development of the Skills of Social Workers and Adult Training Specialists. The network will record the specific training needs of managers and trainers from the Continuing Education and Social Work Organisations in Europe. This analysis will be enriched particularly by the large amount of work carried out in this field, as well as by the varied experience of the partners.
GINCO - Grundtvig International Network of Course Organisers
Professional development of all staff in adult education is seen to be a decisive factor in the quality of adult education. The European Grundtvig programme supports international mobility activities for in-service training for adult educators and the development of international training courses that meet LifeLong Learning Programme (LLP) priorities. These actions are set up in support to improving access to a rich and varied provision of adult education training with a European scope.
Managing Quality of Adult Education in Europe
In all major policy documents as regards lifelong learning e.g. the Memorandum on Lifelong Learning, and others, ensuring quality of adult education has been declared as one of the main priorities. Quality management systems play an important role in increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of organisation processes and ensuring transparency and better services for the learner. All over Europe quality management systems are being introduced in educational organisations. But the existing systems go along with a number of problems:
MOVE - Mutual recognition of skills and competences learned through volunteering - towards a European debate
Volunteering is a key activity when it comes to non-formal and informal learning and to make learning opportunities available for all. However, through its very nature the contribution volunteering can make to people gaining skills and competences remains often invisible. There are many projects on local and national level to remedy to this problem assessing or accrediting skills and competences through volunteering, but what is lacking is a European overview on these different models and a debate on how best practices are transferable to other countries and target groups and an ongoing debate on mutual recognition of methods and instruments between different sectors: the voluntary sector, business and the formal education sector. In this context ways of developing of a "European Volunteer Pass", which will be a portfolio that would enable volunteers to identify their skills and ensure recognition of different stakeholders, will be discussed.
NILE - Network - Intercultural Learning in Europe
The increased mobility of citizens worldwide and within Europe, and the growing number of migrants of varied creeds and origins living and working in Europe, are turning the concept of "intercultural learning" into one of the most essential aspects of lifelong learning. In view of rising racism in nearly all European countries, the real challenge lies in linking valuable pedagogical approaches developed in the field of intercultural learning to the overall process of general globalization and migration.
DOLCETA - Online Consumer Education Tools for Adults
The project was put out to tender by DG SANCO, The Health and Consumer Protection Directorate of the European Commission, and awarded to EUCEN (European Universities Continuing Education Network) in 2003. The aim of the project was to develop interactive web-based tools for consumer education.

Reality, practice and collaboration for education in European prisons
EAEA is taking part in "Reality, practice and collaboration for education in European prisons" (A GRUNDTVIG 4-network)
Education in prison is a very specific sector of adult education. Access to adult learning is not only a basic human right, it is a crucial step towards the reintegration and the rehabilitation of prisoners. Information relating to education in prison is all too often fragmentary.
The project´s aim is to set up a network of exchanges, surveys, information, educational research and support for policies and initiatives related to the rights of inimates to education.
REFINE - Recognising Formal, Infomal and Non-formal Education
The aims of Refine are: to test the tools for a European methodological framework for the recognition of non-formal and informal learning (as recommended by the Transfine project funded under the first Joint Action call); to foster trans-national and trans-sectoral collaboration; to build mutual trust in the practices and procedures.
Eda Edu - System in Action for Study Circles in Vocational Training
Eda Edu aims to develop competences for trainers concerning transfer of innovation in SMEs through the use of Study Circles. It is targeted on organisations of VET system and SMEs.
TEACH - Teaching adult educators in continuing and higher education
The project is intended to promote high-quality initial and inservice training for specialist adult education staff by developing a three-stage framework for university courses in line with the European BA/MA model:
• an element (module) to be contained in a first vocational "Bachelor of Education" degree;
• a framework of modules for a second, professional "Master of Adult Education" degree;
• a modular postgraduate "European Master of Adult Education" programme incorporating the "European dimension of AE", to expand the "Master of Adult Education" into a "European Master of Adult Education".
The immediate target group will be the thousands of students of educational science and adult education, teachers and organisers working in adult education establishments, those employed in the field of social work and educational social work, and staff of cultural and youth centres within Europe.
The main activities consist of following stages: project implementation, collection of materials, needs research, creation and development of the design of the "MA of Adult Education" continuation course, testing of design assumptions, project evaluation, production and promotion, dissemination, distribution.
The expected outputs of the project are: case studies, project website, book "Guidelines for teaching adult educators in continuing and higher education" (with recommendations and curricula), CD-ROM.
