History
On the basis of the request from the Azerbaijan Banks Association, European Unionīs TACIS Program provided technical and financial assistance for the establishment of the Azerbaijan Bank Training Centre within the framework. The assistance was carried out through a project that run from August 1999 to July 2001, which implementation was entrusted to a consortium created and lead by the European Saving Banks Group.
Mutual efforts of the Project Group and the Association lead to the formation of a local management of the Centre in January 2000, and the following month regular training courses started on a commercial basis. In the first year all courses were run by Western experts, but starting from Year 2, specially trained local experts co-facilitated the delivery of the courses together with foreign experts.
ABTC was registered as the daughter company of the Association, and it was the Centre was established both physically and legally.
