History
As part of Jacobs University Bermen, the Jacobs Center is a research center that, since its foundation in 2003, has established itself on the national as well as on the international level. It has gained visibility through manifold activities in research at JCLL is to understand how individual and institutional conditions interact to influence adult development, in particular in the work context.
Main act
Research at the Jacob Center on Lifelong Learning and Institutional Development focuses on the analysis of productive adult development and aging with a special focus on the work context.
By investigating both human and organizational development, we aim to understand how individual (body and mind) and institutional conditions interact to produce outcomes on the individual as well as on the organizational level. At the individual level, we focus on physical and performance, as well as on cognitive capabilities, intelligence, the personality ( motivation, emotion) and the social relationships of individuals.
In 2008, the research activities of the seven professors were supported by six postdoctoral fellows and 23 PhD candidates. In addition, the support of five administrative staff facilitated the generation and transfer of scientific knowledge.
