2nd Brussels Debate
March 30, 2009
Europe´s economies
are changing. The industrial society, which shaped and modernised Europe´s
societies, is transforming fast into to a largely services-based,
knowledge-based society. Knowledge has become the core resource, well over
land, labour and capital. But are Europe´s education systems, from the basic to
the most advanced levels of education, designed to prepare for this new
society?
The second Brussels
Debate will focus on the future of education in Europe. How can schools and
universities foster the creative and innovative capacity of pupils and
students, helping them to develop and use it throughout their life and in the
future labour market? New jobs that do not even exist today call for new
skills. New social needs call for new solutions.
