Culture 2000 - Integrated actions covered by structured, multiannual cultural co-operation agreements

The Culture 2000 programme contributes to the promotion of a cultural area common to the European peoples. Each year the Community supports annual and multi-annual cultural events and projects carried out in partnership or in the forms of networks. The annual projects must involve cultural operators from at least three States and respectively the multi-annual projects must involve cultural operators from at least five States participating in the Culture 2000 programme.
The total budget for projects under this call is EUR 28 million.
'Culture 2000' aims to provide funding for quality projects, which encourage innovation and creativity, provide real European added value and which reflect the current concerns and areas of interest of operators in the cultural field.
Three types of cultural actions and events are supported:
1. Addressing the Citizen
2. New technology/media addressing creativity
3.Tradition and innovation, linking the past and the future
Particular attention will be given to projects bringing together cultural operators from the EU Member States, the EEA countries and the candidate countries.
Action 2
Multi-annual Co-operation agreement projects.
Multi-annual cooperation agreements aim to strengthen cooperation between cultural operators in a structured and long-lasting way. Projects undertaken in this category of activity must have an ongoing multiplier effect at the European level.
In 2005 funding will be available for:
• multi-annual cooperation agreements in the field of Cultural Heritage;
• multi-annual cooperation agreements in the field of Visual Arts;
• multi-annual cooperation agreements in the field of Performing Arts;
• multi-annual cooperation agreements in the field of books, reading and translation;
Eligible candidates are public and private organisations with legal status, whose main activity lies in the cultural sphere.
These organisations have to be based in one of the following countries participating in the programme:
• the 25 Member states of the European Union;
• the three EEA/EFTA countries -Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway;
• the candidate countries, Bulgaria and Romania for whom the necessary arrangements for participation are in place.
The minimum and maximum amounts of funding are EUR 50 000 and 300 000.
Funding may not exceed 60% of the total eligible costs.
