European regional meeting on Literacy
The establishment of a European area of lifelong learning is expected to empower citizens to meet the challenges of the knowledge-based society at the same time that it contributes to meeting the goals and ambitions of the European Union and the accession countries to be more prosperous, inclusive, tolerant and democratic. An underlying assumption in the provision of lifelong learning opportunities is that the citizens have the basic literacy skills to build on so that they continue on learning.

Barroso gets go ahead from EP
The European Parliament on 18 November gave its vote of approval to the new line-up of the Barroso Commission.
The Liberal Adult Education Net (´Folkbildningsnätet ´)
is a common electronic conference system and a pedagogical tool for Swedish liberal adult education, i.e. for folk high schools and study associations. It functions as a meeting place, an information site, a conference hall and a study centre.
A new turn in Lisbon 2010 strategy?
The high level group on the Lisbon Strategy reported earlier this month about the disappointing results so far, calling for a revitalisation of the process, and pointing to five key areas that demands attention. EU language mainstreaming delayed
