Adult Learners Week in Flanders

UNESCO wants to motivate those who offer adult education and place adult learners in the spotlight. This is why UNESCO promotes the organisation of the Adult Learners Week throughout the world.

In Flanders, the Great Learners Week exists since 2001, but in other countries all over the world, the tradition of organising an Adult Learners Week has of course existed for much longer.

The objectives of this project (Great Learners Week in Flanders) are rather ambitious: to sensitise the public, to inform them about the educational offer, and moreover to give information on how to create a positive learning environment, how to make partners co-operate and how to stimulate the educational offer.
Flemish organisers have chosen to organise a one-day event to promote learning. Furthermore, targeted actions that focus on a specific theme will be held the entire year. These actions can also be linked to other events in order to keep improving the promotion of adult learning.
