Every adult in Scotland to get £100 for computer training
Here are some good news that sets an example for countries in Europe. Every adult in Scotland will be offered up to £100 to improve their computer skills, it was announced today. The initiative is part of the Scottish Executive's Individual Learning Account Scotland scheme which offers low-income learners up to £200 a year to pay for courses to help them get back into work.

The elearningeuropa.info portal proposes a debate on the contribution that ICT can make to fulfilling the objectives established in the Millennium Declaration. The United Nations Summit that begins in New York on September 14 this year will evaluate the progress made towards meeting these goals.

UK EU presidency priorities
UK has the presidency of EU from July 1 to Dec 31. As can be seen from the list below adult education is sparsely mentioned in the priority list.
OECD Education Policy Analysis 2004
Education Policy Analysis provides an opportunity to reflect on, and learn from international experience. The 2004 edition contains state-of-the-art reviews of policy issues and international developments in the role of non-university institutions in widening access to tertiary education and in making it more diverse and relevant; how countries can gain educational returns from their investments in educational ICT; the challenges that lifelong learning poses for schools; and how tax policies can help to foster lifelong learning.
