Aram Avagyan, Armenia

Elected 2011

Candidate background:

Mr. Aram Avagyan is a co-founder and Board Member of Armenian "Adult Education and Lifelong Learning" Association since 2005, and Director of "Global Developments" Fund NGO since 2001.

Armenia (since 2002 as the Head of Department). He has long experience of working to advise the Armenian government to strengthen vocational education and adult learning sector directly and through international projects funded particularly by EU, UNDP, ETF, GTZ, as well as in state governance, organisation and provision of educational activities, maintaining liaison with governmental, non-governmental and international organisations and private companies.

Mr. Avagyan participated in development of Laws on Education, on VET, on Adult Learning, in designing of many policy and strategy documents in the field of Education, in introduction of qualification frameworks, competency-based standards, learning outcome-based curricula, modular training, etc.

He is a member of International Vocational Education and Training Association (IVETA).

Possible contribution:

Mr. Avagyan will represent the 3 South Caucasian countries, in agreement with the Georgian and Azeri AE Associations. He will contribute in diversification of EAEA activities and intensification of its links with this region particularly through supporting the information and ideas exchange and dissemination. He will also actively participate in the decision making processes and implementation of the Board's and General Assembly decisions. On the strength of his knowledge and experience, he can make a considerable input in further strengthening of EAEA through development of strategies, setting new objectives and proposing ways for implementation.
