Launch of New AONTAS Magazine
AONTAS, the Irish National Association of Adult Education, has launched a new magazine for all those involved, or interested, in adult and community education.
AONTAS, the Irish National Association of Adult Education, has launched a new magazine for all those involved, or interested, in adult and community education.
The new magazine is called Explore. Martina Quinn, Communications Officer with AONTAS, said the organisation chose the name Explore for the magazine, because they believe all those involved in adult education can be described as explorers in some small way.
"Whether you are an adult returning to education for the first time in many years, a tutor immersed in the provision of adult education, or a community worker struggling to keep you local education centre afloat, you are on a journey of exploration," said Ms. Quinn. "We hope the content of this new magazine will help, inspire, or advise you in some way on your journey through adult education."
The first issue of Explore was launched in November, and features an interview with Professor Anne Ryan, the new Head of the Department of Adult and Community Education at NUI Maynooth. The magazine also includes adult education news from Ireland and abroad, a profile of an adult learner, a focus on the European Year of Citizenship Through Education, and an article by Berni Brady, Director of AONTAS, on how adult education can learn from the corporate world.
The next issue of Explore will be available in February 2006.
For further information, to obtain a copy of Issue 1, or to contribute to future issues, please contact: Martina Quinn, Communications Officer, AONTAS, Tel: 00353 (0) 1 4068220, Email: mquinn@aontas.com
