"Due to the existence of the project women have a freedom to speak"
Myroslava Kogut, PO "Center of Women´s Initiatives" Director
Through persistence to success
The drastic changes came to every Ukrainian family in the middle of 90s of the previous century. Unfortunately, these changes were not for the better. Especially women faced a huge challenge of making their family and carrier life sustainable and this took women back to the secondary position in the society.
At that time I found myself tearing apart between my family, household and underpaid job. The education of the cyberneticist appeared to be non-demanded in our country and I lacked knowledge in other spheres to apply. Fortunately, at that time Galitchina (Lvov province) played a special role in awakening the public opinion, having laid cooperation bridges with European countries.
Such integration was conducted by "Impuls" in Skole. Due to the support of the Institute of International Cooperation of the Association of the People´s Universities of Germany (dvv international) "Impuls" was able to start the project "Promotion of Adult Education in Ukraine". This project became a magic wand, a real way mark in the lives of hundreds of people like me at the crossroads of life.
I took part in the majority of adult education events conducted by "Impuls", was involved into the development of mini-projects in the sphere of gender policy at the local level, was studying and practicing at the same time. Community work captivated me more than the main job. It is so nice to remember that we were the first in Skole district who created the public organization for women. Due to the close cooperation in frames of the project we´ve assisted women to cope with poverty, to advance, to find their own path for entering the society and the authorities, to head organizations, associations and communities. So, I must admit, that women make their louder statements in all spheres of activities, and the sky is their limit year by year due to the international educational project. They now act in a new way and think creatively. They care not only about their families but also about working carriers, education and professional skills.
