EAEA re-elected Janos Sz Toth
The General Assembly of EAEA re-elected the current president JAnos Sz Toth as president of the association for 2006-2008.
The elections were part of the General Assembly, this year placed in Avilщs, in the north of Spain. Some 125 participants gathered to take part in the thematic conference on the Future of Adult Learning, the DILLMuli exhibition, the fourth Grundtvig Award, and the General Assembly.
The Assembly also elected a new board, with ten members from ten European countries. The new board consists of
- Eeva-Inkeri Sirelius, Finland
- Tatjana Koke, Latvia
- John Scott Lawton, England and Wales
- Theo van Malderen, Belgium
- Ruth Jermann, Switzerland
- Denis Rambaud, France
- Isabel Garcia-Longoria, Spain
- Heribert Hinzen, Germany
- Brid Connolly, Ireland
- Jumbo Klerq, The Netherlands
The Assembly also approved the new work plan 2007, and adopted the work report for 2006, along with the audit report and the financial report. A total of 14 new associations were approved as new members.
An intense discussion ensued over the organisational development suggestions put forward by the board, and the mandate to continue to explore extended funding opportunities was given with a word of caution. It is clear this is an issue that divides the membership. While all sees the need for financial stability, the opinion differs on the best methods to achieve it.
