EAEA General Assembly 2005 resounding success
The EAEA General Assembly 2005 ended on Sunday as a resounding success story. The event combined the 2005 Grundtvig Award, the EAEA Seminar on Valuing learning, the Baltic-Nordic seminar on Validation of learning, an ICAE meeting, and meetings of several other networks.
All of this took place in Lillehammer, Norway Nov 17-20.
All in all some 170 people attended the different events. Thematically, the two seminars were most closely linked to offer a wider understanding of the issues concerning valuing learning and validation of learning. Those who attended all events were given a wide and deep overview of current global issues challenging adult educators, the current situation in Israel and Palestine, information about the Europe-wide EQF-initiative and what it might bring. We heard news on ICAE activities and the forthcoming regional Confintea, ICAE world assembly, and Confintea VI.
The EAEA General Assembly approved the suggested modification to the constitution with minor additions for clarity.
The Assembly also formally approved no less than 16 new members into EAEA, the largest one time growth in the history of the association! New member countries include Turkey, Ukraine, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Albania.
The new key priorities for 2006-2008 was discussed in working groups, and was given a green light. Following the approval of the Assembly the Board will now meet and work out a detailed work plan to address the five areas identified in the priority document. MORE
The 3rd Grundtvig Award was given to the project "Raccontare l'Europa", and the italian association UPTER. MORE
